Why is Cleaning Essential?
Reprocessing medical instruments always starts with proper cleaning. If cleaning is not performed correctly, subsequent disinfection and sterilization will not be effective. Ultrasonic cleaners are especially valuable for instruments with complex structures, such as fine serrations or box-lock joints, where traditional spray washers cannot reach thoroughly.
Working Principle of an Ultrasonic Cleaner
Ultrasonic cleaners utilize the effects of cavitation, fluid acceleration, and ultrasonic wave-induced direct flow in liquid. These mechanisms work together to act on both the solution and the contaminants, dispersing, emulsifying, and removing dirt from the surface of medical devices.
They are commonly applied in the cleaning of rigid endoscopes, luminal devices, scalpels, forceps, syringes, test tubes, glass slides, dressing bowls, trays, and other surgical instruments.
